Today’s story is called ‘Get Busy This Summer’ by Stephen Waterhouse. Your challenge today is to let us know how you will get busy this summer! This can be a picture, a sentence or two or a video message.

Tuesday 14th July - Story time!

Today’s story is called ‘What can you see in summer?’ By Sian Smith. Your challenge today is to write a sentence about what you can see in summer, e.g. I can see blue skies.

Monday 13th July - Story time!

Today’s story is called ‘Handa’s Suprise’ by Eileen Browne. Your challenge today is to draw a bowl of different fruits and label them.

The last song of this term is one of our favourites ‘Hands can hold!’ Enjoy singing this song and making all the different sounds with your hands.

Friday 10th July: Story time!

The last two poems of the week are called ‘The harbour wall’ by Wes Magee and ‘Whale Dance’ by Robin Mellor. Your final challenge of the week is to complete your acrostic poem. The last letter this week is ‘Y’. Can you start your sentence today with the letter ‘Y’. We are looking forward to reading your acrostic poems! Have a super weekend!

Wednesday 8th July: Story time!

Today’s poems are called ‘Rocks’ by Florence Hide and ‘Mermaid’ by Richard Edwards. Your challenge today is to complete the third line of your acrostic poem using the word ‘SUNNY’. So today we are the letter ‘N’. Try and think of a word to use at the start of this sentence that begins with the letter ‘N’.

Monday 6th July : Story time!

This week is Poetry week, so each day I will read 2 poems. The poems today are called: ‘Let’s do the flip flop’ by Judith Nichols and ‘Goodness Gracious’ by Margaret Mahy. The challenge this week will be to write your own acrostic poem using the word SUNNY. Each day we will write a line of the poem starting with the letter of that day. Today’s letter is ‘S’. Can you think of a line for your poem that starts with the letter ‘S’ and has something to do with summer?

Monday 29th June : Story time!

This week is ‘Pirate week!’ Today’s story is called ‘The Troll’ by Julia Donaldson and David Roberts. This weeks challenge is to build a Pirate themed picture and label it each day. Every day we will add to the picture, so by Friday you will have a complete picture. Today we would like you to draw a treasure chest, and label the treasure with the word ‘Gold’.

Song: ‘Granny came to our house.’ Story: Today’s story is called ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad’ by Vivian French. Your challenge today is to write a sentence about what your favourite fruit is and why you like it, for example “ My favourite fruit is melon, because it is sweet.” You could even draw a picture of your favourite fruit as well.

Tuesday 2nd June - Song and Story time!

Song: ‘Granny came to our house.’ Today’s story is called The gigantic Turnip by Aleksei Tolstoy and Niamh Sharkey. Your challenge today is a number challenge. I want you to write a number sentence of all the characters and animals told in the story for example : 1 + 1+ 1 + 2 + 3. Then using objects to help you ( such as blocks or coins) can you add up your number sentence and send through your answer! Good luck!

Monday 1st June - Story time and singing

Song: ‘Granny came to our house’. Today’s story is called Fletchers Big Show. Your challenge today is create and name your own show. Draw a picture of your stage / show and put the title of your show at the top. You can add as many characters on the stage as you like and make it as bright and colourful as possible!

Friday 22nd May - Story time!

This weeks story is ‘There was an old lady who swallowed a fly’ by Kate Toms. Your challenge this week is to draw a picture of a little old lady and around the edge draw all the different things that you think she has swallowed, you can use the same ones as in the story or make up your own! If you can label your drawing as well that would be amazing!

Thursday 21st May 2020 - How to make bird feeders

Can you make a bird feeder to hang outside? How many birds can you count? Can you find out the names of differrent birds and write a list? Which items did the birds like the most from your feeder?

Thursday 21st May 2010 - How to make a suet feeder

If you like getting sticky fingers, then this is the task for you. Can you make a suet ball using some of the following ingredients? Lard or Suet (to bind all the ingredients together) Oats, raisins, bread, grated cheese, fruit pieces, seeds, cerials. Watch to see which birds visit your feeder. Write a sentence about what you see the birds doing and upload it onto 2Simple.

Wednesday 20th May - perform a poem

Can you learn a poem about a worm and perform it to your family? You could even turn it into a song and use instruments too!

Tuesday 19th May - Bug Hotel

Can you encourage more minibeasts into your garden or outdoor space by making them a bug hotel to live in? Keep a look out to see which insects or animals visit your garden or outdoor spaces. Can you think of ways to encourage others to come too?

Monday 18th May - measuring worms

Can you make five worms of different lengths and put them in order from the shortest to the longest? Then use a non-standard form of measure to find the length of them (there are examples on our class page).

Friday 15th May - Story time!

Today’s story is called The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Can you draw your own butterfly using as many colours as possible and then label the different colours you have used?

Thursday 14th May - The Fruits - Las fruitas

Can you try saying which fruits you like and those which you don't like in Spanish? Me guta ........................ ( I like............. ) No me gusta ............. ( don't like . ........... ) Me gust ................... y .......................... No me gusta ........................ y .....................

Wednesday 13th May - more and less

Can you make your own caterpillar with different body parts, if you added one more how many parts would he have? If you found one less how many would that be? See if you can say it as a number sentence too!

Tuesday 12th May - Spanish Fruit

Can you learn to say the name of some of the fruits in Spanish? To learn other Spanish fruits and other Spanish words , try using the Purple Mash Spanish link on this weeks learning page.

Monday 11th May - minibeast Sign Language

Can you learn the signs for different minibeasts? Have a go at writing a simple sentence saying what colour the minibeast is and then sign that too!

Today’s story is called ‘Mad about Mini beasts’ by Giles Andreae & David Wojtowycz. If you could tell us what your favourite mini beast is and either draw us a picture of it or send us a video message telling what your favourite is.

Can you write your own clues about four minibeasts and ask someone in your family to match it to the right picture? Try not to ask someone how to spell the words and have a really good go at sounding them out (parents - it doesn’t matter if they’re not spelt correctly, we like the children to apply the Phonics they have learnt so far).

Can you look for minibeasts in your garden or on your daily walk? Where do you think would be a good place to look?

Monday 4th May - doubling and halving

Can you have a go at using objects in your house to double and halve amounts to 10? There are lots of resources on our class page to help you!

Friday 1st May - Story time!

Today’s story is called Oliver’s Vegetables by Vivian French. Can you draw a picture of your favourite vegetable, label it and write a sentence saying what your favourite vegetable is and why, then send it to us on 2simple.

Thursday 30th April - Growing a carrot top

Can you grow some carrot tops? Don't forget to change the water every day and talk to an adult about the changes you can see. When it has got rotten you might like to put in into a pot and watch it growing. You might like to record its height over time using a non-standard measure such a lego bricks.

Wednesday 29th April - repeating patterns

Can you use fruits/vegetables/natural objects to make your own repeating pattern? You could then ask someone in your family to make one and you have to describe it.

Tuesday 28th April - Growing a Bean Seed

Can you grow a seed in a glass container? What do you predict will happen to the seed? Draw and write about the changes you see.

Monday 27th April - cooking vegetables

Can you help the adult in your family to make dinner? What vegetables are you going to put in it? Which vegetable is your favourite? We can’t wait to see what you make!

Friday 24th April - Story time!

Today’s story is called Titch by Pat Hutchins. When you have finished listening to the story, can you estimate how many leaves ‘Titch’s’ plant had at the end. Can you write a number sentence saying wether you think Titch’s plant has more or less than 20 leaves and send it to us on 2simple.

Thursday 23rd April - Celery Experiment Results

Can you see how the celery has taken up the coloured water? Can you do the same with a light coloured flower ? Do your petals change colour?

Wednesday 22nd April - labelling a plant

Can you have a go at drawing your own plant and then sound out the labels for it? Talk to your mums and dads about what each part does.

Tuesday 21st April - plants

Plants have roots that take up water and nutrients. Can you investigate how plants take up water by completing the celery experiment?

Monday 20th April - making a nature picture

When you have listened to the story, can you draw a picture of a teddy bear and maybe design a new outfit for your teddy? Don’t forget to put your teddies up at your window so that we can all go on our own ‘Bear Hunt’ over the holidays!

Spanish Colours - Can you learn and say the Spanish colour names? You might like to record a Spanish a colour song and upload it to 2Simple.

Monday 30th March - Learning colours in Sign Language

Can you practice saying these colours in British Sign Language? Ask your mums and dads to film you and send it in to us on 2simple. British Sign Language (BSL) is a form of sign language that is used in Britain and involves the use of hand movements, gestures, body language and facial expressions to communicate. It is predominantly used by people who are either deaf or have a hearing impairment.

Can you make a lamb using cotton wool. You could stick it onto a piece of paper and write labels for its body parts. eg tail, legs, ears, wooly body etc Can you add a caption to your finished picture eg The lamb is drinking milk from the bottle.

Wednesday 25th March - life cycle of a frog

Mrs Fox enjoyed spotting lots of frogspawn in the pond. Can you make a life cycle to show how this will turn into a frog? Try to add on labels for each stage.

Draw your favourite animal and then write sentences about what it needs each day.
